Oro Valley Archery Range

With so many outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds in Oro Valley and so many options to choose from including hiking, road or mountain biking, swimming, golf, tennis, all kinds of team sports for young and old alike, it just made sense to add an outdoor archery range and make it available to the public.  And that is exactly what happened in late 2012 when the Oro Valley Archery Range officially opened with the kids from nearby Wilson K-8 firing the ceremonial opening shots.

Oro Valley Archery RangeIt was truly a grassroots community effort to bring this range to fruition.  It involved a grant of $15,000 from the Arizona Game and Fish Department together with a donation of $16,000 that came from a number of corporate sponsorships, with a large chunk coming from the Pusch Ridge Archers.

The range is open to the public of all ages and skill levels every day and offers 28 targets.  There is a $5 daily fee that can be paid on site to use the facility, or an annual pass can be purchased for $60 for adults, or $20 for youth between the ages of 8 and 17.

Unfortunately, you can not rent archery equipment here, so you’ll need to bring your own.

As far as archery ranges go, by the reviews posted on Google, this one would seem to be quite good.  With over 60 reviews as of the time of this writing, it has a cumulative score of 4.6 out of 5. Maybe not quite a ‘perfect bulls-eye’, but pretty good shootin’ nonetheless!

Whether you’re an experienced archer or just curious about the sport, this is a great place to go.  Here’s what a few people have shared on Google about their experience:

Dennis C. said, “Awesome experience to be able to shoot a bow if you haven’t done it you should try it you can spend a lot of money but you can also find deals don’t just go out and spend a whole bunch of money unless you know you’re going to really like it meet awesome people there also guy named redneck very knowledgeable they also have awesome targets they’ve just been replaced not too long ago the upkeep is awesome the bathrooms are to be improved somewhat

Another reviewer, this one a Google Local Guide named Marc said, “Usually friendly attendees, well kept area, nice & level ground at range, 2 enjoyable walking courses and a nice variety of distances to targets. Now if only they would install lights! 🙂 A bit expensive, but not horribly so (rates are pro-rated).
