Why We're So Passionate About Tucson
Some of our favorite things about Tucson, AZ
What's not to love about Tucson?!?! Sure, the summers are hot (but not as hot as Phoenix!), and we don't have the professional sports teams that you find in the Valley of the Sun (but we don't have the traffic congestion either), but hey... we do have the Arizona Wildcats! And that's just the start of what's to love about Tucson...

For sports fans who can't get tickets to U of A Basketball games, we now have hockey with the Tucson Roadrunners and FC Tucson, a semi-pro team for soccer fans. Tucson has come a long ways since I was a kid.
Honestly, the weather here can't be beat for about 8 or 9 months out of the year. And while the Tucson summers are hot, we have Mount Lemmon, just a quick drive up into the Catalina mountains, which is a great escape from the summer heat (Summerhaven). And in the winter you can sometimes go up and actually go snow skiing. I know of some folks who have skied in the morning and been back to town to play a comfortable round of golf at Tucson Country Club by the afternoon. How cool is that?
Speaking of golf, we certainly have some great places to play. From budget friendly public courses like my favorite, Randolf Golf Course, to some killer spots like the Omni Tucson National Resort & Spa or the Ritz Carlton at Dove Mountain.
For bicycle enthusiasts, Tucson is great too. In 2007 the League of American Bicyclists gave Tucson a gold rating for bicycle friendliness and just recently "The Loop" was completed. The Loop is a system of paved, shared-use paths and short segments of buffered bike lanes connecting the Rillito, Santa Cruz, and Pantano River Parks with the Julian Wash and Harrison Road Greenways with more than 120 miles of paved pathways and bike lanes.
Whenever we have out of town guests, there are a couple of "must do" activities. The first is always the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Especially for people who aren't familiar with the desert at all, it's great to see them amazed by the abundance of life that exists all around us here in Tucson.
The other destination that is always second to the Desert Museum but still gets a lot of attention is the Biosphere 2. Personally, I haven't checked it out yet but all my visitors have loved it, and it seems to be something that they associate with Tucson, more so than I would have thought. Go figure.
A new recommendation I will be sharing is the Pima Air & Space Museum. I just attended a graduation ceremony there (for the recent Raytheon Masters of Systems Engineering cohort through Johns-Hopkins University), and man, that place is cool! I only saw a small bit, but definitely planning on going back very soon.
With so many great things to do in Tucson (and I've only scratched the surface), and all the wonderful and kind people we get the opportunity to meet and help out, I couldn't think of a better place to live. We look forward to many years of continuing to serve our great community.
