Canada Hills – Oro Valley
Canada Hills is a residential neighborhood located pretty much in the center of Oro Valley, AZ, just northwest of Tucson. It is largely considered a ‘golfing community’ due to its proximity to the El Conquistador Country Club, which offers your choice of 3 different courses; the Conquistador course, the Canada course and the Pusch Ridge course. All 3 offer dramatic surroundings in the shadow of the Santa Catalina mountains, as well as over 30 tennis courts, pickleball courts, racquetball courts, a lap pool and full fitness facility, as well as a restaurant.
It’s no wonder that non-golfers love Canada Hills just as much for its beauty and easy going lifestyle.
Canada Hills has a large selection of single family homes that are well priced for their size. The community was originally designed and the first homes went up in 1989 and it has continued to mature, grow and develop over the years. According to the website Nextdoor.com, the population amounts to 2080 residents, with 76% being homeowners and an average age of 50 (according the the 2010 US Census).
Other nearby neighborhoods include Canyon Shadows, Copper Creek, Coyote Ridge, La Cholla Estates, La Terraza, Monte Del Oro, Naranja Ranch, Original Rancho Vistoso, Oro Vista, Rancho del Plata, Rancho Feliz, Skyranch, Somerset Canyon, Stonefield Rancho Vistoso, The Highlands, The Overlook, The Villages Of La Canada, Vistoso Hills, Vistoso Point and Vistoso Ridge, among others.
While the median sales price in Canada Hills is around $350,000, that can be deceiving for people looking for affordable housing. There are some truly spectacular homes that sell for well over $1 million, but there are also a variety of condos, townhomes and standard single family homes. You can expect most homes in the area to have a garage for parking.
The schools in the area include Copper Creek Elementary School with grades PK – 5, Richard B Wilson Jr Shool with grades PK – 8, and Ironwood Ridge High School for grades 9-12. These are part of the Amphitheater Unified School District.
While the entire Canada Hills neighborhood is primarily residential, you are within easy distance of dining and grocery stores, shopping, medical offices and all the other amenities you would expect in modern suburban living.
The Nextdoor website also lists some of Canada Hills’ “Neighborhood Favorites”, for things like breakfast, pizza, Mexican food, gym, veterinarian and movie theatre, so you can know the kinds of places the locals like.
For BREAKFAST & BRUNCH the winner was – First Watch – Rooney Ranch located at 10565 N Oracle Rd #103, Oro Valley which is also one of our personal favorites! Bonus is that it’s less than a 10 minute drive to get to it from Canada Hills. Just follow W Canada Hills Dr until you get to La Canada Dr where you turn right. Turn left onto Lambert Ln and travel about 1.6 miles until you get to a fork, where you stay right onto Pusch View Ln. Just before you get to Oracle Rd, you’ll find your feast on the left!

A great afternoon and / or evening spot for really good pizza is zpizza Tap Room at 11165 N La Cañada Dr, Oro Valley, AZ 85737. You can get to it from First Watch by leaving and driving west along Lambert Ln for about 3 miles until you get to La Canada Dr. Take a right and drive north for less than a mile to just before Naranja Dr and zpizza will be on your left.

Not in the mood for pizza, but Mexican is more your thing? Check out La Hacienda Family Mexican Restaurant & Cantina at 11931 N 1st Ave 104, Oro Valley. Again, very simple to get there by just heading east on Naranja for2 miles until you get to 1st Ave. Turn left, head north for about 1 mile and before you get to Tangerine Rd, it’ll be on your left.

Feel the need to burn off some of that great food and ready to hit the gym? A lot of Canada Hills neighbors workout at Planet Fitness at 10525 N Oracle Rd, Oro Valley. It’s only about 3 miles or less from La Hacienda. Just head south on 1st Ave and either turn right on Lambert Ln then left onto Pusch View Ln, or continue on 1st until you get to Oracle where you’ll take a right, then another right onto Pusch View Ln.

Throughout Oro Valley you’ll find lots of people out and about with their dogs. Whether you have a dog, cat or other pet, you want to make sure you have a good vet! The locals voted Pusch Ridge Pet Clinic as their choice. It is located at 12142 N Rancho Vistoso Blvd Ste B100, Oro Valley, AZ 85755. How about a night at the movies? The theaters at Oro Valley Marketplace found at 12155 N Oracle Rd, Oro Valley is the local favorite, and just down Tangerine Rd for us.
